Product Description:

MEROTAZ 250 Injection contains Meropenem, a broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic used as a last-line treatment for severe and resistant bacterial infections. It is prescribed for complicated intra-abdominal infections, hospital-acquired pneumonia, bacterial meningitis, and infections in immunocompromised patients. It is administered by IV infusion in hospitals.

How It Works:

Meropenem kills bacteria by blocking the enzymes needed to build their cell walls, causing them to burst. This makes it a critical antibiotic for treating difficult infections.

Dosage & Administration:

• Use only as prescribed by your infectious disease or critical care specialist ? this is a reserve antibiotic
• Complete the full course even if improvement is seen early ? stopping early can cause dangerous resistance
• Administered by IV bolus or infusion in a hospital setting ? never self-administer

Precautions:

• Inform your doctor of any history of allergy to carbapenems, penicillins, or cephalosporins
• Use with caution in patients with seizure disorders ? may lower the seizure threshold
• Kidney function must be monitored ? dose adjustment required in renal impairment

• Elevated liver enzymes (ALT, AST)
